The 93rd Oscars Academy Awards shifted to April 2021

According to a report, Oscars: 93rd Academy Awards have been postponed to April 2021 due to the deadly spread of coronavirus pandemic. The new date of 93rd Oscars is announced by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences on June 15. It was declared that for the first time in 40 years, 93rd Oscars would be rescheduled. There are reports which also suggest that, initially, it was expected to hold on February 28, 2021. But now overlooking the ongoing situation of COVID-19, as the release of many movies was postponed, the board of governors has also decided to push back this high-class mega-event, and announced that the award ceremony would be held on April 25, 2021.

We have some reports which reveal that, in a joint statement, President of Academy David Rubin and CEO of Academy Dawn Hudson disclosed that the movies played an important role throughout the century. Besides that, they also added that decides to extend the Oscar ceremony to provide the flexibility for filmmakers so that they can complete and release their films without getting penalized for something which is not within their sphere.

Apart from this, the Academy has also decided to stretch the film registration period until February 28, 2021. There are also reports that The deadlines for the submission were also updated. Reportedly, the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures is now opening on April 30, 2021, which was previously scheduled to open on December 14, 2020.

In addition to this, there are also some reports which confirm that the British Academy Film Awards is also being rescheduled, the announcement of postponing the dates of this award ceremony was made on later Monday, the British Academy Film Awards are now set to be held on April 11, 2021.

As per some media reports, the board of governors of the Academy will have a virtual meeting to talk, and will also discuss the next year’s award ceremony. Because of the ongoing coronavirus crisis, it is reported that the organizers of the biggest night of Hollywood are expected to postpone the 2021 Academy Awards.

A meeting was conducted where a total of 54 governors were involved to discuss the high-class major event, Oscars. Upon deciding it they planned on shifting it forward to April 2021, it might even move forward to May. May filmmakers have decided to delay the release of their films due to the pandemic. And this opens the eligibility window for them till December 31st.
