Money Heist Season 4 will Surpass ‘Tiger King’ to become most popular Netflix series

Money Heist

As per the online streaming giant Netflix’s data analysis, Money Heist season 4 will surpass another viral show ‘Tiger King’ in terms of viewership. Both the shows have dazzled people across the globe and have forced people to binge-watch the entire season amid lockdown.

Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem, and Madness (titled onscreen as simply Tiger King) is a 2020 American true-crime documentary miniseries about the life of zookeeper Joe Exotic. It was released on Netflix on March 20, 2020. While publishing the results of the first quarter, Netflix revealed that over 64 million households streamed Tiger Online on its platform within the first four weeks of its release, making it the most-watched show of 2020. The show bagged 5.3 billion minutes of stream time between March 23 and March 29 in the United States itself, which is huge.

However, officials from Netflix believe that Money Heist is even more popular than Tiger King and will amass over 65 million online streams within the first four weeks of its release.

Money Heist (La casa de papel, which translates to ‘The House of Paper’) is a Spanish heist crime drama television series created by Álex Pina. The series traces two long-prepared heists led by the Professor (Álvaro Morte), one on the Royal Mint of Spain, and one on the Bank of Spain. The first season was released on May 2, 2017, and the fourth season of Money Heist was dropped on April 3, 2020.

The fourth season of Money Heist has received positive reviews from critics and gained phenomenal success. Netflix believes that Money Heist season 4 will garner more than 65 million till April 30, making it the most-watched show in 2020. Also, Money Heist has become the most popular non-english TV web series ever to premiere on Netflix.

Both, Tiger King and Money Heist season 4 are on par with another popular show Stranger Things Season 3 that was launched in 2019 and was also streamed by 64 million households within the first four weeks of its launch.

However, all these shows are way behind the TV series that has bagged the most number of streams in the first four weeks. It’s The Witcher whose season 1 premiered last year. As per official sourced, the show was watched by 76 million households worldwide.

It is to be noticed that Netflix counts two continuous minutes of play as a count. While explaining this method, officials said that two-minute-long play confirms that the show wasn’t opened unintentionally, and the viewer actually wanted to stream the show.

Experts believe that such humongous profits and streams reflected in Netflix quarterly statement is due to the fact that majority of people are in their home amid coronavirus lockdown and they have binged watch several popular series on Netflix.
