Leaks suggest iPad Pro will have a FaceID with a bezel-less display but no audio jack

Gear up for the all-new line up of Apple products that will be launched this fall. It includes a cheaper 6.1” LCD iPhone, a 2018 iteration of iPhone X and a plus-sized iPhone and Apple Watch 4. Is that it? Absolutely not because Apple will also unveil the new iPad Pro models and here’s what we have come to know about it following series of leaks from Mac Otakara and Ming-Chi Kuo.

First of all, there will be two iPad Pro models. But this time again, Apple is shrinking the available dimensions of these iPad Pros to free up available real estate in terms of screen size which means, these two models will have a reduced bezel front similar to 2017 iPhone X since Apple is trying to upgrade its iPad Pros similar to how it did with iPhones after the ‘X’ launched last year.

According to Mac Otakara, a Japanese supply chain to Apple, the Cupertino-based tech giant will shrink the overall size of the iPad Pros offering a near bezel-less edge-to-edge display. Apple iPad Pro will be available in two different sizes i.e. 10.5” and 12.9” where analysts believe that Apple would go for 11” model instead of 10.5” model. The leaks suggest that Apple will reduce the size of a 10.5” model from 250.6 x 174.1 x 6mm which is currently in use to a new shrunk size of 247.5 x 178.7 x 6mm. Similarly, the iPad Pro 12.9” model which has dimensions of 305.7 x 220.6 x 6.9mm will be reduced to 280 x 215 x 6.4mm which is a considerable change in dimension while the display size remains intact.

Apple has been rolling out iPad Pros with LCD screens for a long time now. However, it remains a mystery whether it will roll out the upcoming models with LCD or OLED display where the later hides away the display controller and the FaceID camera beneath the display thereby giving an all-screen effect. What’s more? Similar to how Apple unveiled iPhone SE with iPhone 6, 6S, and 6 Plus where the SE remains one of the cheapest and the smallest in the iPhone series after iPhone 5S. Both the iPad Pro models will have the same diamond cut design with easy to handle and portable to use thanks to its almost bezel-less screen.

Bored of using TouchID with your existing iPad Pro? The upcoming iPad Pro will have a FaceID as it has been recently confirmed by Mac Otakara. Apple unveiled the FaceID with iPhone X that scans the user’ face with an infrared camera capturing more than 30,000 data points to evaluate and unlock/lock the phone in a jiffy. Similarly, iPad pro will have a FaceID instead of TouchID and usual swipe-right-to-unlock mechanism. But there’s a catch. It won’t work with landscape mode.

Excited yet? According to the rumors, Apple will drop the 3.5mm audio jack from its upcoming lineup of iPad Pros. This wouldn’t be something that every Apple fans will like but Apple is proceeding with this idea anyhow. Further, the Smart Connector which is used to connect Smart Keyboard with the iPad Pro will be relocated to the bottom edge near the Lightning Connector while the underlying reason remains wrapped in mystery and would take some time to confirm about it.

Apple will launch new Apple products at the launch event to be held in September this year and that is when we will get to see the cheaper 6.1” LCD iPhone which will carry a price tag 30 percent lower than the other two iPhone models to launch this year i.e. iPhone X (2018) and iPhone X Plus (2018). Other Apple products to make it to the market this year is the Apple Watch 4 and don’t forget, the official iOS 12 will be launched this year too. Stick to TeCake for more such great content.
