Kenja no Mago or ‘Wise Man’s Grandchild,’ is an anime series based on a light novel of the same name, written by Tsuyoshi Yoshioka and illustrated by Shunsuke Ogata. The novel series of this manga was released in 2016. Owing to its well-reviews and growing popularity among manga fans, it was adapted into a manga series which premiered its first season with 12 episodes from April 10, 2019, till June 26, 2019.
While the series has not been updated for a second season yet, it is likely that it might get a renewal. The manga novel has a total of nine volumes and season 1 only contains 12 episodes from the novel series. Hence, it is not irrelevant to expect season 2. And, the anime adaptation is highly acclaimed, which assures that the producers might consider the series for an update soon.
As of now, no official confirmation is available about the release date of season 2.
What can we expect from season 2 of Wise Man’s Grandchild?
Wise Man’s Grandchild is adapted into anime by studio Silver Link. The plot follows a young man who after dying in a car accident, takes a rebirth into a magical new world.
The old, yet wise Merlin takes the custody of this boy, looks after him, and names him Shin. Merlin gives him a lesson combatting and about powerful magic. After, 15 years, Shin is ready to travel to make use of his teachings to travel across the globe on his own.
While Merlin makes sure to give him every lesson, he forgets to teach Shin something major—common sense! Shin enrolls himself in the Kingdom Earlshide’s Magic Academy where he is treated like a celebrity, as Merlin was once the national hero of this kingdom.
The second season is expected to take ahead the same storyline. In the first season, the cast members include:
- Shin Walford is voiced by Yusuke Kobayashi.
- Merlin Walford is voiced by Yusaku Yara.
- August von Earlshide is voiced by Shohei Komatsu
- Maria von Messina is voiced by Yuki Wakai
- Sizilien von Claude is voiced by Rina Honnizum.
