Last year, an image from Sussex, England went viral on social media. The picture appeared to have cliff with clouds over and around it. It was captioned “A place where Earth Ends!!! Sussex, England”. Apparently, it was the picture of a place in England called Beachy Head, located in Sussex. As the name suggests, it is a beach with a cliff next to it. It seems like nothing is ahead except for a quilt of cloud. Hence, it makes it look like the point where earth ends.

Since then, it has become a famous tourist spot. The Beachy Head cliff is the highest chalk sea cliff in Britain, measuring 162 metre i.e. 531 ft.

Similarly, there a place in Saudi Arabia known as Edge of the World. It resembles the same cliff as Beachy Head, but in the deserts of Saudi Arabia.

Cape Horn, Chile

The southern-most point of South America, Chile is known to be the end of the earth. It is surrounded by the wild seas. This is where the Atlantic and Pacific oceans meet. Also, Cape Horn has been famous as the sailor’s grave as many sailors didn’t come back from their sail.

Moreover, Cape Horn has a memorial called Albatross Monument which is dedicated to all the sailors who lost their lives in Cape Horn. Also, there is a stone with a poem on it, written by Chilean poet Sara Vial in 1992. That poem became the major reason for naming Cape Horn the end of the world. The English translation of the poem goes like:

“I am the albatross… that awaits you at the end of the world.

I am the forgotten soul of the dead mariners

Who passed Cape Horn, from all the seas of the world…”

Yamal Peninsula of Siberia

Yamal Peninsula is located in the north-west Siberia, Russia. Apparently, in the language of ethnic group of Northern Russia called Nenets, the word Yamal means “End of the Land”. In addition, the place received attention for mysterious deaths of people. However, upon research, it was revealed that the number of deaths increased as a result of natural leakage of Methane.

On the other hand, Yamal Peninsula’s name as end of the earth re-surfaced with the incident of Giant Hole in 2014, when a mysterious hole appeared in Northern Russia. The hole was 250 ft wide. However, scientists believed that the hole appeared because of an explosion occurred due to mixture of water, salt and natural gas.

Nonetheless, no matter what scientific reasons are behind these incidents, they actually are eerie and surprising. So now it’s up to you to whether believe or not if earth has an end or not.
