Disney+ is bringing back the very Hocus Pocus once again. The first movie was dropped back in 1993, and it is almost thirty years since its last release, which has excited the fans beyond fans.
As Disney+ is conjuring up a sequel, Hocus Pocus 2. The movie is officially titled as Hocus Pocus 2: Rise of the Elder witch. This family-friendly film original follows the story of three sisters who are conjured into modern times so that they can fulfill their age-old curse.
The original movie was set in 1693, where the three sisters are burned to death in Salem for practicing witchcraft. But, 300 years later, they return as they had vowed to take their revenge.
Hocus Pocus 2 cast: whom can we expect?
So, will the witches from the original movie make a return into the sequel? The sequel to the movie was announced in the autumn of 2019. It seems that rather being a sequel to that franchise, it will be a reboot altogether.
Workaholics’ co-producer and writer Jen D’Angelo will pen down the script to the upcoming movie that is in the discussion.
Fans will be excited to know that there is a chance to bring back the three main stars, the witch sisters from the original movie,i.e., Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy.
“Sources say that ideally, the trio of actresses will reprise their roles, rather than having to completely reboot the first film.”
Midler and Najimy are more than excited to make a comeback in this sequel. The roles have been their favorite for a long, and they wish to play it once again.
The hype of the original movie can also be credited to these actors, and seeing them in the sequel would lure the fans into watching this sequel. Their performance as the Sanderson sisters was quite be-witching, and now 30 years later, what would be better than to see the sisters back with their sinister yet wholesome energy.
The sequel will be directed by Adam Shankman. It is also expected that Doug Jones, who was seen as Billy Butcherson, will return. He is more than ready to welcome the role.
Hocus Pocus 2: release date?
As of now, no release date has been fixed for the movie. Given that only the director has been finalized till now, and even the cast list is ambiguous, we still need to wait longer.
