WhatsApp introduces group voice and video call feature for iOS and Android users

Teased back in May at Facebook’s F8 developer conference, the much-awaited feature on WhatsApp is now available across all iOS and Android devices. I am talking about a group calling feature on WhatsApp that lets users talk to his/her group of up to four people at the same time. It supports both voice and video calls where the screen is parted four ways so that you can see all your friends at the same time while talking to them on WhatsApp.

More than 1.5 billion users use WhatsApp on a monthly basis according to an official figure. WhatsApp states that this much-anticipated feature is engineered to work even in less-than-stellar network which means, as long as you can get yourself online, you can group call or group video call irrespective of how far the other users are without paying even a penny and all voice and video calls are end-to-end encrypted similar to the chats and other features offered by WhatsApp.

WhatsApp calling feature was announced in 2014 when people starting glowing to this lightweight and extremely efficient and fewer data consuming communication app. WhatsApp has seen a number of changes ever since it was first launched. It introduced its video calling feature in 2016 and then, end-to-end encryption and a lot of other features were incorporated. With the newly released group voice and video calling feature, WhatsApp will unarguably backtrack its rivals such as Skype with more than 1.5 billion users base and counting.
