What AMC has in Store for the Future of The Walking Dead

The Walking Dead

If there is one show that kills off its main characters more often than Game of Thrones, it has to be The Walking Dead. Spanning over a decade of seasons, this show has taken its viewers on quite a journey along with it. The show has been well received by viewers and critics and has an IMDB rating of 8.2, which is quite impressive if I do say so myself.

With season 10 of The Walking Dead now almost over, fans are wondering about the show’s future, especially Walking Dead season 11.
Allow us to clear any doubts you might have:

Will there be a Season 11 of The Walking Dead?

Yes, season 11 has officially been confirmed. It will, however, be the show’s last season, bringing the adventures of Rick and Darryl to a long-overdue conclusion. Season 11 will be The Walking Dead’s longest season to date, having 24 episodes and is supposed to span over two years.
Season 11 will not be the end of the road for The Walking Dead franchise, however. With a couple of spin-offs already aired and a lot more planned ahead, including a Rick Grimes movie series, it seems that AMC doesn’t seem to be willing to let go of the zombies any time soon.

The Walking Dead Spin-Offs

Here are all the spin-offs of The Walking Dead series that we know of:

  • Fear the Walking Dead – 2015 to present
  • The Walking Dead: World Beyond – upcoming
  • The Walking Dead: Cold Storage – 2012
  • The Walking Dead: Torn Apart – 2011

Apart from these, there will supposedly be many more spin-offs underway, and will also somehow manage to bring fan-favorite Rick Grimes back in the story.

The Walking Dead Season 11 Release Date

Although an exact date of release is as of yet unconfirmed, it is believed that the first 12 episodes will air sometime in 2021, not much later than the remaining six episodes of season 10 that will also air in 2021. Expect the remaining episodes to release in 2022.

As for now, no trailer for season 11 of The Walking Dead has been released, expect it to drop just after season 10 concludes.

What’s it About?

The walking dead is a horror-drama show set in a post-apocalyptic world inhabited by flesh-eating zombies.

The show mostly follows the exploits of Rick Grimes as he does everything in his power to keep his family and friends alive until they can find a place they can permanently call home – a place which is basically zombie-proof.

Rick Grimes was a police officer in the small town of Cynthiana, Kentucky. One day, he is shot on duty trying to stop a couple of thugs. When he wakes up in his local hospital, there isn’t a single human in sight, and dead bodies are scattered as far as the eye can see. Dazed and confused, Rick sets out to locate his family and best friend Shane, discovering along the way that a virus that turns people into zombies has spread uncontrollably across the globe, and that he somehow slept through the apocalypse. After Rick finally locates his family and makes new friends, the main goal of his little group throughout the entire series is to just survive somehow as they face both human and zombie threats alike.
