HBO has officially renewed Westworld for season 4. The renewal decision was made despite the fact that the show’s average viewership numbers have dropped from a solid 1.5 million to 0.8 million viewers between season 2 and season 3. Despite the decrease in viewership, the sci-fi thriller still has impressive viewer ratings, 84% on Rotten Tomatoes, and 8.7/10 on IMDB. Creators Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy will return as showrunners for season 4 of Westworld.

WESTWORLD SEASON 4 RELEASE DATE

The release date for season 4 of Westworld is yet to be announced, seasons 1 and 2 were released 18 months apart, and season 3 came 2 years later. Considering these facts and that season 3 ended just last May, it will be quite a while before we can even expect to get a release date for the fourth season.

WESTWORLD SEASON 4 TRAILER

The trailer for Westworld season 4 is yet to be released, however you can relive the most recent chapter by watching the season 3 trailer here :

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM SEASON 4

Season 4 is expected to tie up all the loose ends left by season 3. After Serac’s demise, humanity will probably face a new enemy. The humans have discovered that an AI had been manipulating them from the beginning, rendering the age of algorithms null.

Caleb will likely continue his quest for an uprising, now joined by Maeve as well.

Dolores sacrificed herself by allowing Caleb and Maeve to completely erase all the data within Rebohoam, in order to return free will to the humans. All that is left of Dolores now is her body as her memory and data were wiped away from its circuits. Season 4 will let us know if there is any hope for Dolores to return in any capacity, or if she will be gone for good.

Now that Westworld is on the verge of revolution, the new season will also tell us if the show will continue in the real world after the fall of Serac, or if the show will somehow find a way to return to the parks.

It is uncertain how many episodes the fourth season of Westworld will have, seasons 1 and 2 had 10 episodes each while season 3 had only 8. Will season 4 go back to the old ten-episode format or are 8-episode seasons the new norm for Westworld?
