Early Life
Vera wang was born on 27th June 1949 in New york city. His father Cheng Ching Wang is a medical company owner while mother Florence Wu was a language translator in the United States. They were originally Chinese people who settled in the USA.
Wang was a sports enthusiast during her childhood. She, sincerely, started skater from the age of 8. However, she could not make it into the Olympics. That made her choose fashion designing. She pursued a degree in Art history at Sarah Lawrence Collge, Paris University.
Work-Life
She was, further, employed by Vogue as an editor for magazines. After having an experience of 17 years, she joined Ralph Loren in 1987 that fetched the best out of her in just 2 years. At the age of 40, she turned into an independent woman and started working as a bridal designer. She started her own bridal boutique Bridal House limited on Madison Avenue. Amongst her best works are the bridal design of Chelsea Clinton, Alicia Keys, Ivanka Trump, Hilary Duff, Khloe Kardashian, Kim Kardashian, Michelle Obama.
She also designed skating costumes for Nancy Kerrigan, Michelle Kwan, Nathan Chen, and Evan Lysacek. She published a book of her own “Vera Wang on Weddings”.She also filmed many TV shows such as Gossip Girl, First Daughter, The September issue.
Her ready-to-work line launched in 2000, partnered with David’s Bridal and Mens’s Warehouse. There she faced troubles relating to licensing agreements and eventually, dealt with Zales and other Ventures. This brought her fame in the wedding and bridal industry.
Personal Life
Vera Wang was married to Arthur Becker in 1989, got separated in 2012. They took two daughters on adoption namely, Cecilia and Josephine.
