About The Witcher
The Witcher is an American-Polish Netflix Original web series. It is created by Lauren Schmidt Hissrich. The story is based on the book of the same name, written by Andrzej Sapkowski.
The Witcher is set on “the Continent”, inspired by the medieval period. The show revolves around the Geralt of Rivia, Princess Ciri and Yennefer. Apparently, Geralt of Rivia and princess Ciri are linked to each other by destiny. Hence it depicts their stories at different points of life. During all this, the three of them explore the origin of their characters. Subsequently, they merge in one timeline altogether. Meanwhile, they discover about the invaders from Nilfgaard.
The first season of The Witcher had eight episodes. It was based on the short stories named “The Last Wish” and “Sword of Destiny”. Certainly, these stories lead to the main Witcher story.
Cast of The Witcher
The cast and their acting in The Witcher are loved by everyone. It is critically acclaimed as well. Henry Cavil has received positive reviews for his role. In fact, the author Andrzej Sapkowski commented, “I was more than happy with Henry Cavill’s appearance as The Witcher. He’s a real professional.” Forbes said, “The supporting cast is excellent. From the various wizard to the nobility and peasants, there’s a wide range of characters that give life to this strange land.”
However, season one was just the beginning. Apparently, season 2 is going to bring the new cast members. The new cast for The Witcher season 2 was announced in early 2020. In February, Netflix announced Kim Bodnia to play the role of Vesemir. In addition, Hollywood Reported reported the inclusion of Kristofer Hivju, Yasen Atour, Agnes Born, Paul Bullion and Thue Ersted Rasmussen. Aisha Fabienne Ross and Mecia Simson also joined.
But recently, on 24 September, Thue Ersted Rasmussen announced he won’t be portraying Eskel. Certainly, he left the show owing to the rescheduling of the show due to COVID-19.

Nonetheless, the role has already been replaced by Basil Eidenbenz. And according to the reports, he has already begun filming for his role as Eskel.
Release Date of The Witcher Season 2
The Witcher was premiered on Netflix in December 2019. The renewal for another season was announced before the release of the first season. On November 2019, season 2 of The Witcher was declared. Lauren Schmidt Hissrich said, “I’m so thrilled that before fans have even seen our first season, we are able to confirm that we’ll be returning to The Continent again…”
Also, the show has already started filming for season 2. After the pause due to COVID-19, productions were resumed on 17 August. The Witcher season 2 will release in 2021.
