The Witcher, produced by Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, has been renewed for a second season. According to the report, showrunner Hissrich had updated the series for the second season on November 13, 2019, ahead of its debut on the streaming platform on December 20.
“We don’t yet have a target launch date for season two past 2021,” Hissrich confirmed. The shooting of the show was to begin in the early quarter of 2020, with a targeted release for 2021. But as the pandemic brought the production to a halt, the shooting was shut two weeks after the season 2 preparation had begun in March.
But the shooting has reportedly resumed on August 17, gearing up for its release without much delay. Following the safety precautions, director Surjik shared photos of the resumed production in August. The director remarked that they are “learning to social distance” while on the sets.
The Witcher series has been adapted from the book series of the same name and covers up the sequences of The Last Wish and Sword of Destiny by Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski.
