The Tick is an American web TV series made for Amazon Video by Ben Edlund, based on his comic book character of the same name. Its first episode premiered on August 18, 2016. A “half-season”, through to the sixth episode, was released on August 25, 2017, and another six episodes were released on February 23, 2018.

On January 17, 2018, Amazon declared the second season of ten episodes, which premiered on April 5, 2019. Edlund showed on Twitter that Amazon Video has declined to renew the series for a third season. On June 14, Edlund said that he was unable to find a new place for the Tick, ending the series with two seasons.

What is the story about Tick?

The Tick is an invulnerable superhero in a blue tick suit who comes to the city to help fight crime and discover the mysterious figure behind the city’s underworld. He makes friends with a nervous and mild-mannered young man named Arthur who becomes his sidekick. Then they realize that a long-dead supervillain called “The Terror” may still be alive and operating in the city’s underworld.

Why was the show cancelled?

The Tick’ Season 2 premiered on April 5, 2019. As far as the next season goes, we have bad news for the fans. On May 15, 2019, Amazon announced the cancellation of the show. The Amazon series’ creator Ben Edlund revealed the news on Twitter that he is sorry to say Amazon has chosen not to proceed with The Tick.

Considering the declining viewership of the show, it was expected that Amazon may not continue for another season. Though, fans should not lose all their hopes. There’s still a possibility that some other network picks up the show.

Griffin Newman came as Arthur Everest, The Tick’s sidekick, along with Valorie Curry as Dot Everest, Brendan Hines as Superman, Yara Martinez as Miss Lint or Janet, Scott Speiser as Overkill or Esteban, and Jackie Earle Haley as The Terror. The main characters are supported by the presence of strong supporting actors who make the show rich and interesting.
