The Rising of the Shield Hero season 2 and 3 is set to premiere. The team has given hints of the production process nearing its completion. However, the season can be expected to make its debut by the end of 2020 or early 2021. The team is also striving to release the third season without much gap between the second and third. Further, The Rising of the Shield Hero in the Crunchyroll Expo last year released the trailer for season 2. The team said that it is just a small part of the big things that are on the way.
The Rising of the Shield Hero first released on January 9, 2019, with 25 episodes. Takao Abo directed the first season. However, for the second season, Masato Jinbo replaced him as the director. Keigo Koyanagi is the writer of the show. The show was streamed in both Japanese and English. This night novel was written by Aneko Yusagi. The novel was further made into manga and a television series. The anime received mixed reviews but was also well received by its viewers.

Overview
The show revolves around Naofumi Iwatani who is summoned to a parallel universe as a Shield hero to fight monsters called Waves. This parallel world is part of a game. In the beginning, we see Naofumi leading a normal life as a 20-year-old student. However, when he discovers a book about the four heroes he is taken to a different world. But things are not in his favour as, among the four heroes, Naofumi is the weakest and is given a Shield. Only a girl joins him but she betrays him which makes him cold and spiteful about everyone. Naofumi buys slaves from a slave trader who approached him in the fourth level. Her name is Raphtalia and she is a demi-God.
The season ends with Naofumi finding of the conspiracy plan behind his partner’s betrayal. She was the princess and it was all part of her and the King’s plan. The series is about betrayal, vengeance and adventure. The Rising of the Shield Hero season 2 will feature Naofumi fighting more battles and overcoming hurdles to find himself. The season is also expected to bring in old and new characters.
