The OA, which has been created by Zal Batmanglij and Brit Marling, is one of the most phenomenal shows of the decade. It brings forth the element of science fiction quite interestingly. But despite the outcry of the fans to bring back the series, it has been cancelled officially.
Jason Isaacs has recently confirmed the news that The OA will not return for a third season. This had sparked a major fan campaign to revive the series. This was confirmed at the beginning of July as Isaacs was questioned by presenters Philip Schofield and Holly Willoughby if The OA will return. His answer was a definite no.
Isaac also shared how the fans have been pleading for the renewal, but it has been decided that it will not come back.
Isaac recalls how a lady went on a hunger strike for it, and a huge fan movement had erupted. But he adds that “It won’t be coming back, but you know, we made two seasons of maybe the most brilliant and original and imaginative show that I’ve been involved with in 32 years.”
The OA was initially released on Netflix on the 16th of December, 2016. The series stars Brit Marling, Jason Isaacs, Scott Wilson, and Alice Krige. It is a show which brings together both science and the mythic elements. It explores the idea of the presence of parallel universes and is one of the most iconic series on Netflix. Season 2 of The OA was released on the 22nd of March, 2019.
Last year, in September, Isaacs had originally planned along with the show’s creators to produce the future seasons, as he had everything “mapped out”. But unfortunately, this did not happen, and now it has been cancelled.

The OA Season 2: Ending Explained
The OA, in its finale episode, introduces us to a new meta dimension. Hap tells The OA that he will bring her to this new dimension, where she would not hate him. Homer unsuccessful tries to stop them. We had assumed that the new dimension would be explored further in the upcoming season, but the show has been cancelled.
