The much awaited Tom Hanks’s ‘Greyhound’ to release on Apple T.V.+ on July 10

It was reported in the last week of April that, Tom Hanks’s upcoming movie Greyhound would not be released on theater, but, it would be premiered on Apple TV+. Though there has not been made any announcement officially regarding the release date of the movie, the release date of the “Greyhound” on the streaming platform Apple T.V. + is now disclosed. Reportedly, it will be released on July 10, 2020, on Apple T.V. + globally.

This most anticipated war drama film was initially expected to launch in theatre on June 12, 2020, but due to some reason, Sony Pictures postponed its release. After that, due to the coronavirus crisis, it was announced that Tom Hanks-starring Greyhound would directly be available on the streaming platform AppleTV+. Apple also said in a statement that Greyhound is the most prominent feature film, which indicates that the streaming platform is establishing a strong base in the market.

As we all know that, Apple T.V. + is lacking behind from its competitors Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hotstar, so this movie Greyhound is a major addition to it. After his battle with COVID-19, Greyhound would be Tom Hanks’s first film to the audiences. The Cast Away actor returned to the high seas after seven years since Captain Phillips was released in 2013. There is a report which suggests that this upcoming film became a bidding battle between popular streamers.

Finally, Apple T.V. + gained access to it, and the deal was done at around $70 million with the auction brokered by CAA Media Finance and FilmNation. Greyhound has joined the increasing range of films that make their digital debut and lack its theater release. Films such as Scoob, Trolls World Tour, The Lovebirds, Artemis Fowl, and my spy were previously directly broadcasted on OTT platforms. And overlooking the ongoing coronavirus, it is expected that the theaters in the USA, which are the major market for these films, will not be reopened until early July.

This upcoming American war drama film is based on a novel named The Good Shepherd (1955) written by C. S. Forester has been helmed by the renowned director Aaron Schneider, while, Gary Goetzman has produced the film. We have Tom Hanks for the screenplay. In the movie, we see that the U.S. Navy Commander is going for his first war-time assignment.

Their mission is to protect and defend a merchant ship from submarines. It is a movie that shows the year 1942 the Battle of Atlantic. Commander Ernest Krause is the role played by Tom Hanks. He is fighting his own demons, and Delft doubts while commanding his ship for the enemy. This film also has Rob Morgan, Stephen Graham, Karl Glusman, Elisabeth Shue, and Manuel Garcia, Tom Brittany, as the important lead roles too.
