Golden Globe and Emmy winning TV show The Handmaid’s Tale has been renewed by streaming service Hulu with The Handmaid’s Tale Season 4. The release, however, might be postponed due to a delay in production caused by the pandemic.
The Handmaid’s Tale is a dystopian tragedy set in a future after the Second American Civil war, in which a totalitarian society where women called handmaids are forced into child-bearing slavery.
With 3 very successful seasons to its name, the show is all set for season 4, here’s what we know about the new season so far.
The Handmaid’s Tale Season 4 Release Date
Production of the show, which came to halt earlier this year has resumed as of August 2020 and if nothing else messes with its schedule, we might see a delayed release date (the show was initially set to release this autumn) sometime in 2021.
An official trailer for The Handmaid’s Tale season 4 was released last June, hinting at June’s fate. You can watch it here:
In the end of season 3, June is severely wounded trying to help a group of children escape Gilead by plane, and was carried away by her fellow handmaiden later on.
Fred is tricked into traveling to Canada to be charged for his war crimes by Serena, and in response he exposes her own wicked deeds, revealing that Nichole isn’t his biological daughter.
The trailer suggests that season 4 may follow the rise of the resistance in Gilead, whilst simultaneously covering the fallout of the Waterford family’s revelations. June’s husband might also try and inflict vengeance upon Fred, his wife’s rapist.
