The Crown Season 4 to Grace us in November

The Crown

The Crown Season  4 went into production even before season 3 was aired back in 2019, showing just how much faith Netflix has in the show.

Filming for seasons 3 and 4 3took place back to back, which meant that by the time season 3 was aired, filming for season 4 was almost halfway over. Luckily for the showrunners, filming wrapped up in March 2020 just before the pandemic rendered all productions moot.

Here’s what we know so far about the upcoming season.

The Crown Season 4 Plot

Although Netflix has not exactly confirmed the timespan, season 4 of the crown should take us up to 1990 from ‘77.

Potential plot lines that the new season may follow include the incident where six shots were fired at the Queen during the Trooping of the Colour, or the Buckingham House intruder, Michael Fagan, who made it into the Queen’s bedroom after a serious lapse in security.

We will also get to see Gillian Anderson’s portrayal of Margaret Thatcher for the first time, and her tense relationship with the Queen as Thatcher leads the country into the Falklands War, generating conflict within the Commonwealth.

Meanwhile, the Queen and her family must also find a suitable bride for Prince Charles, who is still unmarried at 30. The Prince’s romance with Lady Diana Spencer becomes cannon fodder for British household gossip. Back at the Buckingham Palace, the Royal Family is becoming increasingly divided.

If the fourth season is anything like its predecessors, we may also get to see US President Ronald Raegan and his relationship with the Queen.
