However, when the news regarding Netflix signing up to adapt the books into an actual series came out, the audience went bezerk. There was no looking back from then. Yes, it’s official. Netflix is expected to adapt the classic novels into both – a TV series as well as a full-fledged, original Netflix film. Not many might be aware but there are quite a few major details that have come out regarding the movie. Before we talk further about what role Netflix is playing in producing the book into a series as well as a movie, let us understand where we’ve come with the writing till date.
History behind ‘Chronicles of Narnia’
Fans will know that ‘The Chronicles of Narnia’ is a book series that was written back in 1950 by famous author C. S. Lewis. It is a fictional fantasy adventure that revolves around the world of Narnia. There are seven books in total and there have been multiple adaptations over the past few years. The series has been adapted in the form of a BBC series, radio series as well as the highly-popular Walt Disney Pictures production franchise. It definitely has been a massive hit among the audience and we can’t wait to see what blessings the Netflix production will bring.
How is Netflix connected to ‘Chronicles of Narnia’?
It was back in October 2018 when Netflix finally announced the news of scoring the ‘Chronicles of Narnia’ contract. They had stated that they received a “multi-year deal” wherein they will be able to produce multiple films as well as independent series projects that will all critically revolve around the writing reflected through the books of Narnia.
At the time, Netflix’s Content Head, Ted Sarandos commented, stating, “C. S. Lewis’ beloved Chronicles of Narnia stories have resonated with generations of readers around the world. Families have fallen in love with characters like Aslan and the entire world of Narnia, and we’re thrilled to be their home for years to come.”
What Narnia projects are in development?
There are several Narnia projects that are currently in development. Given just how rich Matthew Alrich’s profile really is in the recent past, it is easy to predict a few magnificent developments that are upcoming in the future. Following given is the list:
- Netflix series ‘Chronicles of Narnia.’ The title is currently under review. We are not aware of what the series will be called as yet. However, it seems like the series already entered the production phase in early October, 2018.
- Another independent original film by Netflix by the title, ‘The Chronicles of Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew’ is also expected to be released
- On an unrelated note, a Disney movie by the name of ‘The Chronicles of Narnia: The Silver Chair’ is expected to release as yet. However, there is no official confirmation around this. There are only numerous rumours that we have heard of.
