The century’s longest lunar eclipse will be taking place in two weeks: NASA

An exceptional space phenomenon will occur soon, which will be one of the most exciting events of this century. The longest lunar eclipse will be taking place just in two weeks, which will cause the moon to slip into Earth’s shadow for a few hours.

When will the Lunar Eclipse take place?

Based on time zone, people will witness the lunar eclipse that is bound to take place on Friday, November 18-19. It is the longest partial lunar eclipse in this century, spanning 3 hours, 28 minutes, and 23 seconds. The forthcoming lunar eclipse will be this year’s second and last lunar eclipse.

Further details of the Lunar Eclipse

During the eclipse, the Earth will be passing between the sun and moon. The Earth will cast a shadow over the moon. The eclipse will be peaking after 4 am. ET.  The planet will hide 97% of the full moon from the sun’s light, imparting to it a reddish hue. You will not require binoculars or a telescope to see it. It will be visible to the naked eye. You can go outside and see the eclipse between 2:19 am and 5:47 am ET. And, if the weather is too chilly, you can catch up with the live stream to watch the eclipsed moon.

According to NASA, the lunar eclipse will be visible from locations where the Moon rises above the horizon. Hence, in places like North and South America, Australia, Eastern Asia, and the Pacific Region, one can view the eclipse or at least a part of it.

People who will observe the eclipse from the US East Coast can see it at around 2.18 am, and the eclipse will reach its peak at 4.02 am. For the US West Coast, the eclipse will be initiated after 11 pm, and it will peak at 1 am in the morning. The monthly update of NASA reads that if the weather permits, the eclipse shall get visible from the locations listed above.

The last longest lunar eclipse took place on July 27, 2018, which lasted for one hour 48 minutes. The shadow’s path curvature and the apparent rotation of the Moon’s disk are because of the rotation of the planet.

As per astrology, the forthcoming lunar eclipse will take place in the Taurus zodiac sign. Hence, those belonging to this zodiac sign are advised to pay special attention to their health and finances. According to NASA, which is involved in predicting various space events, it has said that in the 21st century, the Earth will experience a total of 228 lunar eclipses. These lunar eclipses may take place a maximum of three times a year.

The next eclipse will be taking place on May 16, 2022.
