Director Gina Prince Bythewood reportedly hinted that Charlize Theron’s recently released Netflix film The Old Guard could make a possible sequel. The ending of the film leaves viewers with a suspense note about a group of immortal mercenaries which was led by Theron’s Andy.
It was disclosed by the renowned director Gina Prince Bythewood in a recent interview that the edge of the seat thriller, The Old Guard, might have a sequel. Besides
this, the director further added that she along with the film’s writer Greg Rucka have a trilogy regarding the Charlize Theron starrer, The Old Guard.
According to the reports, the filmmaker also revealed that “It was part of the graphic novel, and I always loved it because I felt there would have been a hole if it didn’t end the way it did.”And Prince Bythewood continued that “There’s always a fear because you don’t want to annoy an audience. I know how I feel when things are left open, but for me, we told the story. It does have a beginning, middle, and end. And then, there is a hint and a possibility of more, but that’s absolutely up to the audience. Greg has always envisioned this as a trilogy.” And she concluded her statement with, “I know where the story is going and,it’s pretty dope. So, if the audience wants more, there’s certainly more story to tell.”
The latest released Netflix film, The Old Guard is based on the graphic novel series which was written by Rucka and illustrated by Leandro Fernandez. The Netflix film featured Oscar-winning actress Charlize Theron as Andy, who is the leader of a group of men who are immortal. For centuries, the immortal mercenaries have been fighting against the evil forces. While the film continues, many other secrets are revealed about their immortality and those who had ever been a part of the group before but died.
The Old Guard has the essence of betrayal in the movie as one the immortal mercenaries goes ahead and backstabs the medical research team of villains.
