Netflix has renewed the Russian Doll for a second season. The American comedy-drama was released back in 2019 and has gathered critical acclaim and an IMDB rating of 7.9
The show follows video game developer Nadia Vulvokov. She finds herself stuck in a time-loop when she realizes that every time she dies, she wakes up again at the same party she was in when the show began. Watch her as she tries to figure out what’s going on with her and if she manages to escape the said time loop.
Russian Doll Release Date, Trailer, and Speculation
Netflix usually follows the new-year-new-season routine as most other platforms. So, Russian Doll season 2 was set to release sometime in 2020. However, the studio had to stop filming because of the pandemic. With filming expected to resume later this September or in October, we might expect a spring or winter 2021 release. There has been no official word from the studio, except for a few tweets confirming that season 2 is indeed underway.

As for now, no official trailer for Russian Doll Season 2 has been released. Expect it to drop a few months before the actual season is aired.
Russian Doll Season 2 Plot
The official season 2 plot hasn’t been shared by Netflix yet. We are unsure if the new season will introduce a new timeline, or if it just continues Nadia and Alan’s story. Natasha Lyonne, who plays Nadia, has hinted that season 2 may revolve around the video game’s connections and influence over season 1. As to the rest, it is anyone’s guess. The only thing we’re sure of is that we can’t be sure of anything that might happen in season 2. Season 1 was pretty bizarre itself. It won’t come as a surprise if season 2 is just as confusing, if not more.
Rest assured, whatever Nadia gets up to next will most definitely not fall under the usual comedy-drama norms, with her questioning her existence in a way most women generally can not or don’t want to.
Moreover, season 2 won’t even be the last installment to the show, since writers have also confirmed a third season.
