In June 2019, it was announced by Netflix in their official twitter account that Russian Doll will be back with season 2. The creators of the series have mentioned that there is always a scope of doing more seasons of the dark comedy. The production was supposed to start in the month of May 2020 but now due to Covid, everything is in halt.

The creators have just hinted that they are in plan to make this as three-season series. The screenwriter mentioned that “We initially pitched it like three seasons. We came in with it as like, ‘Here’s the idea for season one, here’s the idea for season two, here’s the idea for season three’. So, I could definitely see us going back to one of those ideas.” They have also hinted that there are chances that season 2 will entirely come up with a new idea.
