While Riverdale could have more in common with teen dramas such as Pretty Little Liars, the popular Netflix show could soon draw parallels with Game of Thrones, following reports that in the forthcoming season five the lead character could be killed off.
Showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa recently teased that in the episodes to come, Riverdale’s favorite Archie himself could be in extreme trouble. The author shared an image on his Twitter page that appeared to show Archie’s friends gathering at his grave mournfully (although we believe there is more to this than meets the eye). Since a crew member came into touch with someone who had tested positive for COVID-19 in March, Riverdale was one of the first to suspend production because of the pandemic.
This meant that 19 episodes were abruptly trimmed down to the fourth season, leaving viewers with a cliffhanger winding up obsessing about and confusion about whether it will be resolved.
Fortunately, things appear to be catching up, with the cast reunited and shooting kicking off this year with a (literally) steamy sequence at the beginning of September… We also know that the next season will eventually carry the long-awaited prom episode to screens, ready to feast your eyes with a first-look shot of the action.
‘Riverdale’ season 5: Release date!
The CW announced a fifth season of the outlandish show, which is based on Archie Comics, back in January, was in the pipeline. While it was originally planned to air this October, the effect of the pandemic would likely postpone its originally scheduled premiere date.
Pre-production began in August 2020, before Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, producer and showrunner, announced in September that filming began on the new season, sharing an Instagram picture of himself and members of the cast of Riverdale.
The show is likely to return in January 2021, but if production will resume without a hitch, there’s a possibility it might be sooner. We will keep this page updated with the latest reports on the start of season five of Riverdale.
It seems like Riverdale isn’t going anywhere too, since it was identified by CW President Mark Pedowitz as one of three shows describing the latest new path of the network.
‘Riverdale’ season 5: Cast!
Based on the few preview pictures available, the main cast seems to be unchanged. Included are:
* KJ Apa as Archie as Archie
* Betty Cooper as Lili Reinhart
* Camila Mendes as Veronica
* Cole Sprouse as Jughead
* Petsch Madelaine as Cheryl
‘Riverdale’ season 5: Plot!
As it follows a familiar-sounding group of high school students whom comic book fans would know so well, Riverdale is part of the teen drama genre. Archie, Jughead, Betty, and Veronica form this group. In line with the latest mysteries, the four friends constantly find themselves in shady circumstances and end up in them, making some major disclosures.
With many stories of passion in between, the show also brings an emotional dimension to the fore. It is expected that the fifth season will address some crucial aspects that have been holding us in suspense for a long time now. Several new doubts emerge about Donna and how she exploited Betty after it was revealed that Jughead did not truly die and was truly only knocked unconscious at the end of season 4. So, it seems like the next season is going to have a lot of juicy bits.
