Rapper Kanye West becomes Saviour, provides 3 lakh meals to needy amid COVID-19

Coronavirus pandemic has hit the world very hard and the majority of countries are in lockdown. People are helplessly forced to stay in their homes in order to protect them from catching the contagious virus. The lower-income class has been hit the worst as now they have no means to earn their bread and butter and many are on the verge of dying of hunger. It is good to see that several people and charity groups are coming forward in our combat with COVID-19 and save poor people.

With a similar cause to help needy, Rapper Kanye West has been helping people by providing them food since March 2020. West’s charity has provided nearly 3,00,000 meals to the needy in Los Angeles. As per the reports, West collaborated with the fast-food firm Chick-fil-A to donate non-profit organisation named Dream Center located in Los Angeles. With the help of West, Dream Center has been able to provide nearly 11,000 meals per day to the need and has saved them from dying of hunger amid crisis.

Dream Center founder Matthew Barnett took to social media to thank Kanye West for supporting the firm for a noble cause that as enabled them to transform the organization into a hub for those who can’t afford food due to financial difficulty amidst the COVID-19 outbreak.

“The Los Angeles Dream Center has transformed into the Grand Central Station of food distribution and other basic essentials. I’m so grateful that our team has stayed healthy, and that we’ve found a safe way to meet the urgent needs within our community,” said Barnett. “I can’t say thank you enough to the various donors who’ve made this a reality. This is what a neighbourhood, a community, and a church should always look like.”

The Dream Center is a Christian non-profit organization in Los Angeles, California, established in 1994. The church ministers to the local homeless community, emancipated youth, gang members, addicts to drugs or alcohol, single mothers, struggling families, taggers, people with AIDS, and various subculture, ethnic and nationality groups. It feeds the homeless and others in need and runs a halfway house for released prisoners. Close to 500 people are housed at the center and receive rehabilitation. Many other services are offered each week to meet the spiritual and physical needs of the community. Since 2017, it has also operated a system of colleges, many of which have run into financial and regulatory trouble.
