Bashar Barakah Jackson was known professionally as Pop Smoke was an American rapper, singer, and songwriter. Many considered him to be the face of Brooklyn Drill.
Pop Smoke Personal Life –
Pop was born on July 20, 1999, in Brooklyn New York. His mother was a Jamaican and his father Panamanian. Canarsie section of Brooklyn he spends his childhood. He was thrown out of the school when he was in 8th as he brought a gun to school. He was charged with weapons possession and was on house arrest for 2 years. He won a basketball scholarship to Rocktop Academy, a Philadelphia prep school when he was 15 years. But had to leave as he was diagnosed with a heart murmur.
Pop Smoke Career Life –
In 2018 he began his music career. He hanged around other recording artists. He initially remixed popular songs within the New York City drill music scene. Later he created his own music. His debut single MTR released on December 19, 2018. In the Brooklyn area, he became famous after that. Flexing released on January 28, 2019, within a day it received over one hundred thousand views on YouTube.
Pop breakout single Welcome To The Party released on April 23, 2019. Then he released Me The Woo after that in the same year that was produced by 808Melo. Later the song was remixed two times. His song Welcome To The Party become popular and due to which he collaborated with other popular artists on singles. Pop released his second mixtape Meet The Woo 2 in February 2020. A documentary on Pop Smoke’s life was announced on April 16, 2020.
Pop Smoke Personal Life –
After returning from Paris Fashion Week on January 17, 2020 Pop was arrested by federal authorities at John F. Kennedy International Airport because he was transporting a stolen vehicle across state lines. According to the owner, he borrowed the vehicle from the owner for a video shoot which he did not return. The vehicle was Rolls-Royce Wraith. Later he was released on bail.
Pop died on February 19, 2020. He was shot twice during a home invasion in Hollywood Hills.
