Details of Play Station 5
The Play Station 5 is the new home video game console by Sony Interactive Entertainment. It is soon to be launched in North America, Australia, New Zealand, Japan and South Korea on 12 November 2020. However, the rest of the countries will have the PS5 on 19 November 2020. According to the reports, the platform is “anticipated to launch in two varieties, as a base PlayStation 5 system incorporating an Ultra HD Blu-ray compatible optical disc drive for retail game support alongside digital distribution via the PlayStation Store, and a lower-cost Digital variant lacking the disc drive while retaining digital download support.”
The news about PS 5 first came out in April 2019. It was announced in an interview with the lead architect Mark Cerny. As mentioned above, PS 5 will soon arrive worldwide. Also, a game library showcase for PS 5 was presented in June 2020.
Features of Play Station 5
The upcoming Play Station 5 has a customized SSD aka Solid State Drive, designed for high-speed data streaming. This feature will allow the necessary improvements in graphical performance. Also, the hardware of PS 5 features a custom AMD GPU, which is capable of ray tracing. The new platform supports 4K resolution displays and around 120 frames per second. Moreover, there is new audio hardware for real-time 3D audio effects and backward compatibility with most PlayStation 4 and PlayStation VR games. The new Play Station 5 has an internal storage of 825 GB SSD.
In September 2020, it was confirmed that PS 5 is the biggest game console. Its base unit measures 390 by 260 by 104 millimetres and weighs 9.9 lb. However, the digital version is slightly slimmer. It measures 390 by 260 by 92 millimetres and weighs 8.6 lb.
Where to pre-order Play Station 5?
Play Station 5 was opened up for pre-orders on 17 September. However, the process became chaotic and confusing. Earlier, Sony had claimed that people will be informed before the pre-orders opened up, but few retailers started earlier. But apparently, you can only get them on the scheduled date.
Moreover, the previous pre-orders were even cancelled for a few buyers. It was more of a race as the console was sold out in no time. In fact, Sony apologized and promised for providing more PS 5 consoles. Hence, it has become a bit difficult. You can check the availability of PS 5 stock in the USA at Amazon, Target, GameStop, Sam’s Club, Best Buy and Walmart.
Apparently, the stores might receive additional stock, but they are out of stock as of now. Hence you might have to keep a close vision on the sites. Clearly, things have become a bit of a mess. However, you can prepare yourself to place an order for the digital edition of Play Station by making sure of a few things. You can create an account on the website where PS 5 will be available. Fill in the required information beforehand and stay logged in. Keep refreshing the page, even if it says “out of stock”. You can also use a stock tracking tool. Many people use this trick as it makes the checkout process faster.
