Orange is the New Black season 7 concluded on July 26, 2019. The show, which many consider having brought Netflix the current fame it enjoys, is an American comedy-drama created by Jenji Kohan, especially for Netflix. The show premiered on Netflix on July 11, 2013, and has since gathered a huge fan following, whilst also impressing the critics. It has an IMDB rating of 8.1 and a score of 90% on Rotten Tomatoes.
With season 7 out of the way, some fans may be wondering whether or not we will get another season. Let us clear those doubts for you.
Will there be a Season 8?
Unfortunately for fans, season 7 of Orange Is the New Black seems to be the show’s last one. After 91 episodes in all, the show was given the proper send-off it deserved in season 7, and the showrunners, including Kohan, have stated that this was the end of the road. In fact, Kohan had been planning to end the show after its seventh season back when season 5 was still airing.
Kohan stated in an interview that although they would be missed, it was time to free the ladies of Litchfield from prison. So, in short, there will not be a season 8 of Orange s the New Black; season 7 is as far as we get.

What is the Show About?
The series begins with the conviction of Piper Chapman, who is sentenced to 15 months in Litchfield Penitentiary. This was an unexpected conviction as the charges referred to something she had done a decade ago – smuggle drug money for her girlfriend. It is later revealed that the very reason she gets convicted is that her ex Alex Vause had named her in her trial. The two meet up in prison and have to re-evaluate their relationship.
Later on, during season 5, involvement in the prison riots gets their sentences extended and ends up with the duo moving to the Litchfield Maximum Security Prison.
Season 7 provides an ending for a number of inmates” prison sentences, including Piper and Alex, and the story comes full circle. Hence, there is absolutely no need for the showrunners to go with the eighth season.
