Orange is the New Black has ended with season 7, no plans for season 8

Created by Jenji Kohan, Orange Is the New Black is a highly popular and well-acclaimed American comedy-drama web tv series. The seventh and the final season of Orange is the New Black had premiered on 26th July 2019. The show has been officially terminated and will not be renewed for a new season.

One of Netflix’s most-watched original series, the end of the show definitely marks an end of an era on Netflix. The show was originally released on 11th of July, 2013 and has seven seasons till date. The premise of this series is based on a memoir by Piper Kerman which is titled as Orange Is the New Black: My Year in a Women’s Prison.

Executive producer, Tara Hermann talks about the fate of the show. She adds, “Jenji often has to make the final call. But mostly we fought and talked it out and got to a place where we all felt good about where they all landed.” By the finale, the storyline of most of the characters of the show comes full circle.

This series is undoubtedly one of the most influential series of the decade. At the centre of the show is Piper Chapman, who is pushed into prison for almost 10 years and it chronicles her account until she gains freedom.

Unfortunately, the series has ended. Netflix has not renewed it for its eighth season.

What happens in the finale episode of Orange Is the New Black?

Karla Córdova played by Karina Arroyave makes an attempt to cross the border in order to make it to the US in order to reunite with her children. As the deportation to El Salvador is started, Karla covers a few miles to the border. But before she could reach the border, she, unfortunately, suffers a fall. This makes it difficult for her to walk and she is deserted in the midst of nowhere with her injured ankle. We see her screaming as she is left behind to die in the desert.

Piper Chapman wins back the parole. And, Kerman is ready to serve in the prison, this time voluntarily.

Cindy “Black Cindy” Hayes and Blanca Flores also gain their parole and Tiffany “Pennsatucky” Doggett owing to her substance abuse suffers an early death.
