Stranger Things star Joe Keery’s Twitter account got hacked

In the series of social media accounts getting compromised, it seems that one more celebrity got trapped into the web. In the latest such event, Stranger Things actor Joe Keery’s Twitter handle was hacked. After recovering the account, Joe offered an apology to all of his fans and followers.

The incident took place on Sunday when Joe’s account was hacked and the hacker flooded with his twitter handle with a series of obscene messages. The hacker made several references to Keery’s “Stranger Things” co-star Caleb McLaughlin, in his series of tweets.

Few tweets mentioned that Gaten Matarazzo, another star of Netflix’s Stranger Thing series, got molested on the set of “Stranger Things.” He further made a mockery of small teeth of Goten and said that he had his teeth knocked on the sets when in reality he suffers from cleidocranial dysplasia, which is a birth defect that mostly affects the growth of bones and teeth.

Soon after realizing that Joe’s twitter handle has been compromised, officials from the microblogging site locked his account in order to prevent any further tweets. “As soon as we were made aware of the issue, we locked the compromised account and investigated the situation,” a rep for Twitter told Page Six. “We’re working closely with the account holder to restore the account.”

Later, Joe Keery’s Twitter account got restored and all the tweets got deleted. Meanwhile, some of his followers took the screenshot of the abusive tweets and posted it online.

Joe Keery who played the character of Steve Harington in Stranger Things, offered his apologies to his fans for all the foul comments that were published on his Twitter account by the hackers. He further revealed that he is hurt very deep down inside by the tragic incident and wished such incidents should not happen to anyone. He further asked fans to send him love during the time of crisis.

“Hey everyone, I was hacked as I’m sure everyone knows. What a bummer that someone would go to such great lengths to spread hate. I want to apologize for the horrible comments that were posted, it was deeply upsetting to me. Much love to you all in these crazy times,” wrote Joe Keery in the tweet.

As per the latest reports, Twitter has taken the matter seriously and has started an investigation to find the hacker. This is not the first time that social media handle of celebrities have been hacked. Recently, Hollywood stars like Selena Gomez and Kylie Jenner became victims of hackers when their twitter account got hacked.
