The phenomenal British historical fiction tv series, The Last Kingdom is highly appreciated for its intense dramatization and the plot development. With four seasons at present, The Last Kingdom is now updated for the fifth season. Here’s what we know.
The Last Kingdom was first released on October 10, 2015. Based on Bernard Cornwell’s The Saxon Stories series of novels, the fifth season of the series is currently under production.
Nigel Marchant who is the executive producer of the show has said: “We are really proud of The Last Kingdom, which continues to entertain audiences all over the world. We had such a tremendous response to the last season, so are thrilled to be bringing it back for season five on Netflix. With such a loyal fanbase, we’re excited to give viewers a chance to follow Uhtred on the next stage of his quest.
The Last Kingdom Season 5 will bring forth the “greatest heartbreak” in the plot of Uhtred as the producers have remarked. The show is available on Netflix and BBC Two.
In season 4, we had seen Uhtred fighting against the Viking invaders. The death of Aethelred of Mercia leaves his kingdom vulnerable. Lady Aethelflaed’s accession to the throne is definitely a notable moment. Uhtred’s daughter Stiorra is to pair up with Dane warrior Sigtryggr.
The Last Kingdom season 5: release date?
The Last Kingdom renewal is now ordered to follow for a fifth season. As of now the release date is not available. The 5th season will develop the final arc of Uhtred of Bebbanburg’s story as he continues on his quest.

Season 5 will be 10 episodes program on Netflix. Season 5 will be based The Saxon Stories: Warriors of the Storm and The Flame Bearer and will cover the stories of Books 9 and 10.
Uhtred will continue his quest in England beyond Bebbanburg. He will King Edward’s son, Aethelstan as warrior. As the producers have discussed the fifth season as the greatest heartbreak in Uthred’s story, this will be developed accordingly in seaosn 5.
