Over the course of three MCU phases which started with Iron Man 1, Loki, who first appeared as the anti-hero in Thor and then the main antagonist in The Avengers, went from being a despicable character to someone who was on the list of everyone’s favorite characters. Alas! As soon as Loki appeared to have finally redeemed himself, he died at the hands of the Mad Titan, breaking all our hearts. His death most definitely went down as one of the saddest in the MCU, but it seems that wasn’t the end of the road for The God of Mischief since Marvel announced a show to his name soon after Endgame released.
The show, named ‘Loki’ after the character himself, is one of many that Disney will be releasing on its streaming service over the course of the next few years.
Here’s what we know about the matter so far.
Loki Release Date
Loki was initially set to release sometime in the spring of 2021, along with WandaVision. It so happens that WandaVision got bumped earlier to December of 2020 and Loki, who’s filming began in January 2020, might see a delay due to the pandemic causing production and filming to stop. The only hope we have of Loki releasing in 2021 is if the studio manages to resume production sometime soon, else we might possibly even have to wait till 2022.

The Plot
Fans may be wondering how Loki managed to get his own show since he clearly died in Infinity War. Will the show be a prequel? Apparently not.
In Endgame, when our heroes had traveled back in time to retrieve the Infinity Stones, a blunder caused by Stark gives the 2012 Loki a chance to escape with the Tesseract, and in the process creating a timeline that previously did not exist.
It seems the show will be set in this timeline where Loki was never captured after the War in New York. Not much has been revealed about the actual plot of Loki. But many have theorized based on leaked images and trailer stills that Loki might be captured by some sort of time police called the Time Variance Authority (TVA). There is also the popular theory that the events of Loki and WandaVision may both tie up and lead to the plot of Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, another MCU film that will soon release.
