Legacies Season 3: Vampire Diaries spin-off show Legacies was renewed by The CW for a third season in January 2020, however, the release might be postponed for a couple of months due to a halt in production.
Legacies is an American fantasy drama which is a spin-off of the show The Originals, which itself is a spin-off of the Vampire Diaries, all three shows broadcast under The CW network.
Legacies first aired on October 2018 and has released two seasons to date, with a third currently in the works.
The show has characters from both it’s parent series and follows the story of Hope Mikaelson, daughter of Klaus Mikaelson and Hayley Marshall and a descendant of one of the most powerful vampire, werewolf, and witch bloodlines.
Set two years after the events of ‘The Originals’, Hope attends the Salvatore School for the Young and Gifted, a special school where supernatural beings such as herself are taught to control their powers and impulses, kind of like Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry from the Harry Potter Novels.

Legacies Season 3 Release Date
Initially set to release during the fall of 2020, the release of Legacies’ season 3 will apparently be pushed back to January 2021 as a result of a halt in production due to COVID-19. Mark Pedowitz, president of The CW, has confirmed as much himself.
The COVID-19 situation is an unpredictable one, however, and might possibly push the release back even further than the already postponed January 2021 date.
On the bright side, the show’s cast started receiving season 3 storylines in August, which might lead one to believe that they might get the show back on the road sooner than we think.

As of now, not even a trailer for Legacies season 3 has been released.
Season 2’s musical episode, which did not end up releasing due to a halt in production, might yet end up getting released at a later date as well.
Legacies Season 3 Plot
Although it is too early to guess what season 3 has in store, appearances from cast members from Vampire Diaries and The Originals wouldn’t actually be surprising.
It is likely that season 3 will dwell on the threat of the Necromancer, one of the shows’ antagonists who stole the dark magic from Josie, which not so roughly translates into a huge headache for everyone.
