Kelly Rowland was born on February 11, 1981. Her native is Atlanta, Georgia. Kelly had a difficult relationship with her father who turned out to be an abusive alcoholic after suffering from PTSD. Later, her mother left him, and Kelly took her mother’s side. She, later on, moved to Houston where she joined her initial girl group named Girl’s Tyme from where she went on to take part in the biggest talent show, Star Search. However, they lost the competition.
Later, she joined the Destiny’s Child and they performed as opening acts for the then famous R&B groups. It wasn’t long enough before they were signed to Elektra Records and released their first album. Kelly has also mentioned that it was not easy to be in a group with Beyoncé, she was compared every time and she was conscious to not look or act in any way like Beyoncé to avoid this. She went through a hard time because of this. However, this did not mean the two had any hard feelings for each other. Till date, the three continue to support each other an remain close friends. They had also reunited many times to perform on stage after they split.
Personal Life
The singer was engaged to Roy Williams from Dallas Cowboys but later broke off their engagement. Kelly Rowland is married to Tim Weatherspoon, her manager, whom she had been dating for around three years before getting married to him on May 9, 2014. She is the mother of a 5-year-old named Titan Jewell Weatherspoon.
Kelly is also a philanthropist and found the charitable entity Survivor Foundation which housed victims of the hurricane in Houston. She has also worked for the youth and for people suffering from AIDS.

Kelly Rowland remained in Destiny’s Child from 1997-2001. The girls went on to release albums which also won many accolades. The group had a step up after their second album “The Writings on the Wall” which won the Grammy’s along with several other awards. The album also sold millions of copies worldwide. The group released more songs until they split in 2002.
