Justice League Snyder Cut, What is the release date?

Justice League

DC’s Justice League 2 was initially set to release in 2019 as a part of Zack Snyder’s two-part plan for the series, which never saw the light of day. Snyder had to take a personal break, and director Joss Whedon took over, and the movie that ended up being released was a total disaster. It felt rushed, disappointed fans, and didn’t meet its Box Office expectations.

To make matters worse, Henry Cavill’s future as Superman is uncertain, and Ben Affleck’s Batman has been replaced; with two main characters gone and the first movie not getting the expected outcome, it seems that Justice League 2 is but a pipe dream.

This does not necessarily mean we won’t be getting a new Justice League movie altogether. The studio recently announced it will be releasing director Snyder’s initial cut of the first movie, to be released on HBO Max as Justice League: Snyder Cut. Read on for updates.

Justice League Snyder Cut Release Date

Zack Snyder’s iteration of the movie will release on 5 September 2021, as announced by HBO. Instead of coming to theatres, the film will be available to stream on HBO’s streaming service, HBO Max.

What’s New in the Snyder Cut

The new Snyder cut will release as a 4-hour long movie or as four hour-long episodes on HBO Max. Snyder has assured the film will be something completely new and not just a few extra scenes added to the already released iteration of Justice League. Snyder’s cut will also feature new characters such as DC’s big bad Darkseid, who is seen in the new trailer, Green Lantern, and the Martian Manhunter.
We will also finally get to see Superman in his black suit, images of which had previously circulated before the release of the theatrical cut, but never ended up on the big screen. We may even get a different side of the story as to how the members of the Justice League were brought together, and the final battle might also have a different outcome. Even Steppenwolf’s appearance has been slightly altered. All in all, Snyder’s version will most definitely be a darker take on what we saw in theatres in 2017.
