John Wick: Chapter 4 was confirmed shortly after the release of Parabellum, and was on course for a May 2021 release before the pandemic put a halt to production and sucked away from our happiness. Meanwhile, the studio has also announced the 5th installation in the series, leaving fans confused and full of questions.
However, the announced sequels aren’t exactly a surprise, considering how successful the first three movies were, and also owing to the fact that Parabellum ended on a cliffhanger. More on that later here’s what we know about John Wick 4 so far.
John Wick 4 Release Date
John Wick 4 will release in the US and UK on 27 May 2022, instead of its original release date which was 21 May 2021, alongside The Matrix 4. As for now, a release date is all we have but expect a John Wick 4 trailer to drop soon.
Production of John Wick 4 is set to resume in 2021, after coming to a halt in 2020 due to the pandemic. Furthermore, the showrunners are planning to film John Wick 4 and 5 back-to-back. How director Reeves plans to pull this off is but anyone’s guess.
John Wick 4 Plot
In Parabellum, John Wick, who is currently in exile, is given a choice by an Elder to either kill his friend Winston, who is also the owner of the Continental Hotel, or face death himself. Wick returns to the Continental but instead of killing Winston joins forces with him and takes down a bunch of assassins that the High Council sends their way.
Realizing the need for a different approach, the Council then makes a deal with Winston that if he kills Wick they’ll forgive Winston and restore the Continental to its former glory. Winston, to everyone’s shock, proceeds to shoot Wick multiple times, causing John to fall off the roof of a building.
In a dramatic twist, Wick somehow survives his fall and is rescued by The Bowery King, who has his own grievances against the High Council, and recruits Wick to his cause. Thus, it seems we will see John Wick and the Bowery King join forces and prepare for an all-out war against the Continental and the High Council. One thing is for sure, bullets will fly, and tons will die.
