Introduction:
Jerome “Jerry” Richard Krause (April 6, 1939-March 21, 2017) was an American sports scout and executive who from 1985 to 2003 was the Chicago Bulls’ general manager in the National Basketball Association (NBA).
Jerry Krause ‘s time with the Bulls, led by legendary player Michael Jordan, included their six NBA championships between 1991 and 1998. In 1988 and 1996, Krause won the NBA Executive of the Year Award. In 2017, he was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame posthumously.

Early life:
Formed in 1939, Krause grew up in Chicago. At Taft High School in Chicago, he played high school baseball as a catcher and attended Bradley University.
Jerry went to work as a scout for the Baltimore Bullets after college. Krause early on developed a reputation for being able to spot talent. He is praised by others for recognizing Earl Monroe, the future Hall of Famer.
In the 1967 NBA draught, though with the Bullets, he encouraged the team to select North Dakota forward Phil Jackson.
The Bullets did not draught him, but after Jackson’s playing days and into his first years as a coach, Krause managed to keep in touch. During the 1970s and 1980s, their relationship flourished; especially, when Jackson coached the Albany Patroons in the Continental Basketball Association, Krause once called him to request an overview of the players of the team, which Jackson presented in great detail.
Krause worked as a scout for the Phoenix Suns, Philadelphia 76ers, Los Angeles Lakers, and Chicago Bulls in the 1970s, following a pair of years for Baltimore.
Krause served as a baseball scout as well. He operated with the Cleveland Indians, Oakland Athletics, Seattle Mariners, and the White Sox of Chicago in the 1970s. Krause continued to scout part-time for the Lakers while working with the Mariners.
He played a part in the signing of Ozzie Guillén and Kenny Williams as a White Sox scout, who would guide the White Sox to the 2005 World Series championship as manager and general manager, respectively. Until 1984, he scouted for the White Sox.

For his club Chicago Bulls, he is mainly known for his work upfront and that during his time at Chicago Bulls he had done excellent work as a General Manager. In leading the Chicago Bulls to their unparalleled glory and recognition, he played an important role.
How did he die?
He was hired by Arizona Diamondbacks as a special assistant in his scouting department on 1 April 2011. Krause died at the age of 77 on 21 March 2017. He has been suffering from health conditions such as osteomyelitis.
