Overview
Insidious may be a series of yank horror films created by James Wan and Leigh Whannell. There are four films within the franchise-–Insidious (2010), Insidious: Chapter 2 (2013), Insidious: Chapter 3 (2015), and Insidious: The Last Key (2018)–which have grossed a complete of $539 million worldwide on a combined budget of $26.5 million.
The storyline of all parts of Insidious
The first two films center on a few who, after their son mysteriously enters a comatose state and becomes a vessel for ghosts in an astral plane, are continuously haunted by demons of a hellish realm referred to as the Further until they take from the family what they need most: life. The third film, a prequel, focuses on an equivalent psychic who helped the family; at this point involves the help of a lass who calls bent the dead, and therefore the fourth follows her when her circle of relatives becomes haunted. All plots are depicted as case files of demonologists.
However, we simply can’t miss out on Insidious! Directed by James Wan, the primary installment arrived in 2010 and has spawned three sequels thus far.
Is Insidious 5 Seriously coming?
No, a release date for Insidious 5 hasn’t been confirmed. In fact, despite much discussion over the years about the project, it hasn’t actually been officially announced by studios.
However, as ScreenRant points out, there are suggestions that talk kickstarted shortly after the discharge of the fourth installment, Insidious: The Last Key. Considering it had been the highest-grossing effort of the franchise, it’s not exactly hard to believe.
The source also notes that the horror icon and star of the series Lin Shaye expressed in November 2019 that she’d heard a sequel was being cooked up. Previously, there are plans to mix the Insidious and Sinister universe, so perhaps that crossover may finally get on the cards.
When is Insidious 5 coming?
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, film production has essentially been at a standstill, so it’s rather hard to mention.
Lin Shaye’s insight
Elaborating on the sooner point, Movieweb includes more of Lin Shaye’s insight from November 2019:
As far as production cares, she said: there’s been no date in terms of beginning photography or anything. It’ll probably be within the next year approximately, because Blumhouse may be a little busy, as we all know. But I’ve got my fingers crossed there’ll be another, I hope.”
With all of this in mind, if it does materialize, we suspect it won’t be until 2021.
