One of the most popular mobile directory app, Truecaller has rolled out the version 5.0 as an update for its iOS app and added a ‘Today Widget’ to the service, named as ‘Truecaller Widget Search’. The recently added widget will help the users to search the unknown numbers instantly. Its user interface is optimised for the Apple’s latest smartphones, iPhone6 and iPhone 6 plus.

One of the spokespersons from the firm’s developer team said that the new updated app is far better than the previous one in performance and updated Spam filters. Truecaller’s spam blocking service, which renders information on number of users who have described a particular set of digits as spam,  is in the app backend to protect its innocent users from replying to any cold call. Other features permit the capability to swipe across numeric and alphabetic keyboards, click on a contact to look at details or send out a text message. Truecaller, on the other hand, allow people to block the calls that are ‘pain-in-the-neck’ or which are unknown.

“This is the next big step we’re taking to increase the utility of our app, while helping the iOS community save time with tools they need to identify unknown numbers,” said Alan Mamedi, co-founder and CEO of Truecaller.

“We think the new Truecaller will improve the way millions of people use the service every day, and based on some of the great feedback we’ve had so far, we’re confident that we’re moving in the right direction toward our next 100 million users. We want to streamline and personalize the experience for our users as much as possible, and a smarter design was essential to improving the experience.”

The new feature added to the app helps the users by quickly identifying the missed calls. The users can just copy and paste the phone number from the call history to the app widget or the Apple’s drop down menu to check the owner of the number in the Truecaller database, that reportedly contains around 1.6 billion contact numbers.

Besides this, the new UI of the app provides quick ways to place calls and send text messages to the user profiles just discovered, by just swiping left or right respectively. Furthermore, Mamedi reported that the ‘Today  Widget’ update will soon be revealed for Google Play, Windows Phone, BlackBerry and Nokia’s feature phones.

Currently, Truecaller has 85 million global users, and with about 200.000 new users joining daily the app has nearly 40 millions users from India. Past this, Truecaller has recently unveiled a Truedialer app that aids its users to find whom they are waiting for and when they are to make a call. It also warns them if they are about to call a spam spreading number.
