Design wise, it brings together some of the elements of Chevrolet’s classic hatchback Chevrolet Beat and has threw in some sportive element in it. It is being launched in both diesel and as well as petrol variants. The diesel variant is expected to have a 1.2-liter four-cylinder engine to power the ride up and churn out a decent 142.5 Nm torque whereas the petrol variant will have a 1.0 liter 3 cylinder engine giving the same amount of peak torque as in the petrol variant. It is speculated to have one of the best front wheel drive transmissions. Priced at 4.5 lakh and above, it would give a tough competition to sedans like Xcent, Ford Figo Aspire, and Honda Amaze.
3. Honda WR-V
As the race for bringing forth the best of cars in the crossover segment, Japanese auto major Honda has surely outdone itself in the hatchback segment. The new Honda WR-V has successfully incorporated some of the aspects of its best-selling Honda Jazz in this new car, for example, a lot of the interior design and the host of amenities on the deck are from the Honda Jazz. The Czech automaker has played its strengths in this car by making several cosmetic changes to the overall look of this sedan. The engine of Skoda Rapid would be a part of this edition, not like the 1.5 l turbo diesel or 1.6 l MPI petrol engine needed any changes. The figures remain almost the same as this new edition can churn out a peak torque of 250 Nm and a power of 103 BPH. It comes with a 5-speed manual gearbox and a 7-speed DSG gearbox as well. Priced at 10 lakh-12 Lakh, this sedan would be cashing on the fact that it comes with a popular brand tag and a cool exterior design.
5. Toyota Vios:
It is only fair to say that with Toyota Vios, which is yet to make a debut into the Indian market, it is quite clear that Toyota knows how to focus on little details that are particularly Indian in taste and how to make certain trade-offs so as to keep the price in check. The new Toyota Vios is powered by a 1.4l D-4D engine and can produce a need 141 Nm torque and 107 bhp power. The carmaker has made these trade-offs to cater to the customers by improving on the road clearance factor which has long been a concern among the Indian customers.
