Yet another exploit has been spotted. Twitter accounts of Industrialist, Ratan Tata and TRAI’s chief, R S Sharma has been compromised, but later reinstated yesterday. While, Tata Sons Chairman Emeritus said in a tweet on Saturday that his twitter account was hacked on Friday and a spurious malicious tweet was wrongly attributed to him, which was later deleted after restoring the account.
After getting Tata’s account hacked, the attackers shared a tweet by parody account @realhistorypic, which reads, “Owner of Network 18 welcoming his employee to address people how (sic) cronies are going to halt inflation”. The tweet was also marked to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. And shows Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, besides the caption.
On the other hand, from the Twitter account of R S Sharma, hackers posted some obscene comments making fun of him. One of such tweets reads, “I like dum ways to die because it is most funny.” In addition, another tweet carried obscene comment and a link of Apple App Store prompting to subscribe iTunes News.
In an official statement by TRAI, it said, “This is to inform that Twitter handle of Chairman Trai has been hacked and absurd posts are being put out. Please ignore indecent messages being put out from his handle.”
Sharma was on an official trip to Fiji and Australia, when his account was taken. He is to attend a conference on regulator’s role in Financial inclusion and will be meeting telecom firms in Australia.
