Facebook to release GIF button feature for commenting on posts: Feature goes live coming week

With the popularity of memes and gifs increasing every single day on every single social media and Social Media Giant, just got itself neck deep in a frenzy by letting the word out on the new feature that would enable the users to use GIFS in the comment.

The GIF button feature would be available on both the mobile as well as the desktop version of Facebook. As far as the idea behind introducing this new feature is concerned, Facebook says that it would let the users express themselves in a handier manner.

The statement released by Facebook in this regard says, “Everyone loves a good GIF, and we know that people want to be able to use them in comments. So we are about to start testing the ability to add GIFs to comments, and we’ll share more when we can, but for now we repeat that this is just a test.”

The company has not detailed on whether the same would be available on the social media website with GIFS from all popular GIF libraries but it is certain that the GIF button would be using GIFs from providers such as Tenor and Giphy.

Earlier, to post the various GIFs on the comment section, the users had to post the specific URLs on the comments for commenting; come next week, the same would be available for just a tap on display. GIFs have been a major part of the chat feature that is available on the desktop as well as the mobile version of Facebook. The inclusion and adoption of the commenting via GIF button would enhance the user experience and also improve the integration of the GIF feature with the platform.
