Ever since the Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL smartphones were released, some users across the globe complained about the various issues such as how it turns unresponsive at times, it starts making a clicking sound when data is transferred using NFC, or the blue-tinted screen that appears in Pixel 2 XL that were later sorted after Google’s team looked after the issue and provided a suitable fix. But there is a still a long-standing ‘fatal error’ that needs to be fixed. Some Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL users are still waiting for the resolution to the fatal camera error that they have been facing ever since they bought the device.
The bug is obstructing the camera app to use the rear camera to click pictures or to access the camera in any way, thereby, affecting the phone’s capability to take pictures using its 12.2-megapixel camera as the bug renders it useless. After users reported the bug, Google constituted a team to fix the issue, however, it has been quite a few months and yet, they haven’t been able to produce a bug fix.
After users took to the Twitter to report the issue, @madebygoogle – Google’s Twitter handle, has been convincing the users to wait until the team fixes the affected devices. In a previous Twitter post, Google handle prescribed clearing the camera cache by going to “Settings > Apps & Notification > See all apps > Camera > Storage > Clear Cache > Restart device”. However, the problem is still there and Google hasn’t even narrowed down if the hardware or the software is responsible for the bug.
If it was a software-related bug, resetting the device to its factory settings could do the fix, however, the bug is still to be fixed even after factory reset. There were reports that Google could ask users to replace the affected Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL, however, there isn’t an official statement available as of now. Google has recommended user to turn on the Airplane mode or flight mode whenever they want to click a photo or use the camera app and check if it works or not until Google resolves it.
