Giri/Haji season 2: Everything you need to know about the series

The fans, viewership and rating all point towards asking for a second season of Giri/haji but can we expect it? Unfortunately, there has been no official announcement about the renewal of the show. However, if the show is to be renewed, it is likely expected to release by the end of 2021 or by 2022 as shooting can be delayed due to lock down.

The first season was premiered on 17 October 2019 on BBC two in the United Kingdom and later released internationally on Netflix on 10 January 2020. The show caught the attention of many with its interesting plot and unexpected turn of event.

The show was directed by Julian Farino and Ben Chessell. The original language of the show is English and Japanese. It is shot bilingually. The show includes one season with 8 episodes.

This Japanese/British show displays the life of Kenzo, a cop who comes to London to find his brother who is accused of a murder. Things get complicated and confusing for him when he uncovers some truths about the corruption and conspiracy happening between cops and the gangsters. He should take his brother back to Japan or a gang war might happen. He takes the help of Sarah who is a cop to uncover the truth about the murder. More mess is on the way when Kenzo’s daughter Taki comes to London. The show ends with Kenzo finding the killer who is Endo, the gang lord’s uncle who was once the leader. The show manifests duty, shame, rivalry and greed for power in a riveting manner which engross the audience till the end.

The first season ended without any loose ends and so if renewed, the series might take on a different story. Sharpe who played the character of Rodney said in an interview “I’m sure there would be more to explore but that decision is not mine” which leaves some hope for the fans.
