Ghostbusters 3, titled as “Ghostbusters: Afterlife”, has announced a new release date. The movie was postponed due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation. Fans have been asking for the reason of delays on social media. The third sequel of the Ghostbusters is coming out after almost three decades. Therefore, people’s excitement and enthusiasm for the film is uncontainable. Everyone is strongly rooting for Ghostbusters: Afterlife.

Ghostbusters is a supernatural comedy franchise with four installments so far. The first movie of the franchise was ‘Ghostbusters’, which was released in 1984. After that, ‘Ghostbusters II’ and ‘Ghostbusters: Answer the Call’ followed in 1989 and 2016 respectively. Certainly, the franchise got success with every new movie they released. Today, Ghostbusters is counted as one of the legendary films ever made.
Ghostbusters: Afterlife is the third sequel of ‘Ghostbusters’ and ‘Ghostbusters II’. Overall, it is the fourth installment of the Ghostbusters franchise.

The movie is set thirty years after the second film released in 1989. It revolves around a family of two children and a single mother that moves to a small-town Oklahoma. The house that they shift to is their late grandfather’s inheritance. During their stay, the town experiences a series of unexplained earthquakes. Meanwhile, the children discover their connection to the original Ghostbusters and their grandfather’s secret legacy.

Trailer and release date of Ghostbusters: Afterlife

The first two films received great success, however, the 2016 film, “Ghostbusters: Answer the Call” underperformed at the box office. Thereupon, Jason Reitman began developing a direct sequel to the original films. The movie was announced and new cast members along with the original cast were declared by July 2019.

Initially, Ghostbusters: Afterlife was scheduled to be released on July 10, 2020. But, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the movie has been pushed to March 5, 2021. The film will be released in IMAX, RealD 3D, and Dolby Cinema.

The announcement about the postponement was made via Ghostbusters official account on social media. As the news of the delay upset the fans, therefore, Ghostbusters brought back the original 1984 movie to the theaters for a limited period of time.

Bill Murray has confirmed to be returning as Dr. Peter Venkman. He said, “The script is good. It’s got lots of emotion in it. It’s got lots of family in it, with through lines that are really interesting.”
