Caliphate Season 2: renewed or cancelled? Here’s what we know

Wilhelm Behrman and Niklas Rockstrom’s Swedish series was released initially on January 12, 2020, on SVT and was picked up by Netflix in March 2020. After the success of the first season, the second season is anticipated. But it has not received a green light yet.

Caliphate has been nominated for the Nordisk Film & TV Fond Prize. The first season of the series consists of a total of 8 episodes, and the series deals with the ISIS recruitment and the complex radicalization process.

When asked about the possibility of the second season, show creator Wilhelm Behrman ambiguously replied, “Oh, I don’t know. We have one to two new projects coming up. It’s so much more fun to write new stuff instead of second seasons.”

While it may seem that the Caliphate may get a chance to see its second season, clearly, it has not received a green light at present. The series highlights the lives of five women who are caught up in the organization, and their lives are pawned. Season one also deals with the struggles of women and rape, marital abuse, emotional blackmailing, and guilt-tripping are at the center of the show. Hence this show sends a strong social message.

Caliphate Season 2: When will it happen?

We do not know yet when the second season will happen. It has not been renewed as of now. But the first season was very successful, and it seems likely that the producers will continue the series. But it has not bee approved for a second season yet.

Caliphate season 2: Cast details

The cast is likely to include

•Gizem Erdogan in the role of Pervin

•Amed Bozan in the role of Husam,

•and Aliette Opheim in the role of Fatima.

•Albin Grenholm in the role of Calle

•Nora Rios in the role of Sulle and

•Amanda Sohrabi in the role of Kerima.

Caliphate season 2: How will the series unfold in the second season

The series builds upon the plot of a terrorist attack in Sweden. Caliphate shows how religious fundamentalism lures in the individuals and destroys their lives. It is both a psychological drama and a thriller series. Featuring five women, whose life is bound by limited opportunities, the theme of radicalization is at the center of the show. The second season of the Caliphate will probably expand this idea if it gets renewed.
