Bodyguard season 2: Green Signalled or Cancelled?

Bodyguard is a British police political thriller featured on BBC back in 2018. Based on the life of Police sergeant David Budd, a war veteran assigned to protect a polarising Home secretary ( which is being played by Keeley Hawes), the fiction has been highly hit in the list. It has already been two years that the show has not been renewed. The network has not shared any formal updates regarding the second launch.

Mutterings and rumors about the second launch have plagued the internet with little-to-no-confirmation until recently. However, last year Jed Mercurio, the creator of the show, had taken to his Instagram page to update viewers about the development of the police political thriller season 2. This came as a ray of hope to its huge fan followings. The creator is trying to find ways to avoid killing the cabinet minister in the first five minutes of the show, as seen in his profile.

All that can be expected is that season 2 will take even longer to come up; as can be concluded from the fact that Jed Mercurio, the creator, is busy with the sixth season of his another series  Line of Duty while the lead actor Richard Madden is also occupied with other projects. Realistically, any season 2 can be back in 2021 only.

Cast members expected in Bodyguard Season 2

It is expected to see Gina Mckee as Cmdr Anne Sampson, Sophie Rundle as Vicky Budd, Nina Toussaint-White as DS Louise Rayburn, and  Ash Tandon as DCI Deepak Sharma in the upcoming season. Along with Paul Ready can be seen to debut in the role of Rob MacDonald, Vincent Franklin in place of Mike Travis, Richard Franklin as Tom Fento, and Michael Schaeffer as Richard Longcross. David Westhead might play the role of John Vosler, the Prime Minister, while Stuart Bowman can be featured as Stephen Hunter-Dunn.

Speaking in an event in Los Angeles organized by Netflix, Madden shared what he and Mercurio discussed about the storyline after season 1. The pair decided the fast forward recovery of Budd and hinted that complete four seasons might be required to complete the story properly. They also agreed to the fact that next season would have more interesting elements for the fans.

It is extremely tough to forecast the storyline of next season as of now. The show can take turns and twists in the next season, as hinted by Madden in order to give back its audiences reverberating thrill and fun. Fingers crossed for season 2!
