Better Call Saul Season 6 Bob Odenkirk to Return as Saul Goodman

Saul Goodman

AMC has renewed Breaking Bad spin-off Better Call Saul for one last season, James McGill’s transformation into Saul Goodman is almost complete.

The show has released five impressive seasons so far, with an IMDB rating of 8.7, a feat that even mainstream TV shows struggle to achieve, let alone spin-offs.

Better Call Saul serves as both a prequel and a sequel to Breaking Bad at the same time. The show follows the life of lawyer Saul Goodman both before he moved to Albuquerque and after he moved out following Heisenberg’s death. Each episode starts with Goodman’s current whereabouts before cutting back to his life as James McGill. The show is not as violent and fast-paced as Breaking Bad but instead dives deeper into the lives of the characters from Breaking Bad who were into the drug business way before Walter White came into the scene. Names such as Mike, Gus Fring, Tuco, Krazy 8, and Goodman himself all play a significant role. The show follows Goodman’s transition from an honest and hardworking lawyer to the messiah for criminals being prosecuted that we know and love today.

Here’s what we know about the upcoming season.

Release Date of Better Call Saul Season 6

The sixth season was expected to release sometime in early 2021 or late 2020, but with the COVID-19 pandemic slowing things down, do not expect a release anytime before mid-2021 if not later. Filming for season 6 had initially begun in February 2020.

Plot

Season 5 was focussed on the conflict between Gus Fring and Lalo, with Gus Fring under increasing pressure from Lalo. He is seeking revenge on Fring. Fring recruits Nacho as an undercover goon in Lalo’s operation and asks him to compromise the security inside Lalo’s house so a team of his assassins can finally put an end to him. The mission fails, however, and Lalo, realizing what had happened, sets out on a warpath before the season finale comes to an end.

Season 6 will probably showcase the repercussions of Fring’s attack on Lalo. This attack will probably also put Saul and Kim in Lalo’s crosshairs, along with Nacho, Mike, and Fring himself. The fact that Saul, Mike, and Fring are alive in Breaking Bad confirms that they will live through the ensuing conflict. But the fates of non-Breaking Bad characters such as Kim and Nacho are but anyone’s guess. Nacho will probably be the first person Lalo comes after, considering he used to have complete faith in him and even introduced him to his family before being betrayed by him.

Fans are even hoping that Better Call Saul’s final season might somehow transition into the first breaking bad episode, with Bryan Cranston reprising his role as Walter White, even if it’s just for a few minutes. Even Cranston has stated that if the writers want him to be in the show, he’d be up for it.
