Obama was born on 4 August 1961 in Honolulu, Hawaii. His father, Barack Obama Sr. was African and his mother Ann Dunham was American. Throughout his life, Obama has lived in Hawaii, Seattle, and Indonesia. Hence he has experienced various cultures in his life. Moreover, Obama’s parents died when he was young. Besides, Barack Obama has also talked about getting into alcohol, marijuana, and cocaine during his teenage to cope with any existential crisis.

Later in 1989, Obama met Michelle at the Chicago law firm. They began dating and got married in 1992. They gave birth to Malia Ann and Natasha in 1998 and 2001 respectively.

Barack Obama’s Education

As Obama lived in multiple places, he spent his school life in different schools. When he lived in Indonesia at his stepfather’s place, he attended Indonesian language schools. As a result, he was capable of speaking Indonesian fluently. However, after moving back to Hawaii, he finished high school there.

Later, he moved to Los Angeles to attend Occidental College. That year, Obama made his first public speech to call for Occidental to participate in the disinvestment of South Africa against Apartheid. He then transferred to Columbia University in 1981 and majored in political science. Subsequently, he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1983 and had a specialty in International Relations and English Literature. After that, he worked at Business International Corporations, a financial researcher and writer.

Obama’s Life Post-Presidency

After the end of his presidency term, Obama has still been active in politics. He is currently living in Kalorama, Washington, where Sasha attended her high school. Post Presidency, Obama has started undertaking high paid speaking engagements. He also made a joint appearance in Berlin with Angela Merkel. The former president visited Prince Harry at Kensington Palace. He actively condemned Trump’s decision of withdrawing from the Paris Agreement as well as the nuclear deal with Iran.
