One of the big releases of James Cameron, Avatar, which holds the record for highest box-office gross, beating the records of the blockbuster Titanic, has finally decided to make a comeback after more than a decade. Avatar 2 which was initially scheduled for a release in December, 2014, got cancelled because of some production issues. The good news is that the long wait by the fans won’t go in vain as the director promised us not just one sequel, but three other sequels following the second one. This masterpiece by Cameron had been critically acclaimed for its art direction, cinematography and visual effects. Evaluating all its positive responses and tonnes of applauds, it is no surprise that this 2009 sci-fi swept away 89 eminent awards including the Oscar!
What Is The Release Date For Avatar 2?
Before COVID-19 hit the planet, Avatar 2 was supposed to hit the screens in December of 2021, but now that corona virus has come into the picture, fans won’t get the glimpse of it before 2022. We are expecting the cast and the makers of the sequel to get back to set as soon as the pandemic comes under control.
What we also know is that the other sequels, that is, Avatar 3, Avatar 4, and Avatar 5 each will release every other year till 22 December, 2028.
What Will Avatar 2 Be Called?
Although we are referring it as Avatar 2, sources tell us that it might be named differently. The potential title that has been floating in the media for quite some time is Avatar: The Way of Water. James Cameron verified that this is just a potential title and nothing has been confirmed as of now.
Who Will Return As The Cast Of Avatar 2?
As per the information we have till now, the cast of Avatar is still on board for the next sequel. Fans will find Sam Worthington as Jake Sully, Stephen Lang as Colonel Miles Quaritch, Sigourney Weaver as Dr. Grace Augustine, Joel David Moore as Dr. Norm Spellman, Zoe Saldana as Neytiri, and CCH Pounder as Mo’at in the main roles. Some new roles are also supposed to be added for which Oona Chaplin, Cliff Curtis, and Edie Falco has joined the sequel. Last but definitely not the least, Kate Winslet, who will be teaming up with Cameron for a Titanic reunion will be playing a vital role in the upcoming sequel with the name Ronal.
